SEWER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

VOLUME A: HICKORY HOLLOW SEWER REPLACEMENT

VOLUME B: KIMBERLY ROAD/OAKHURST DRIVE AREA SEWER REHABILITATION

The Sanitary Board of the City of Charleston, West Virginia (CSB) has awarded a construction contract to Mike Enyart & Sons, Inc. (MESI) of South Point, Ohio to install sanitary sewer improvements in the Hickory Hollow, Ferry Branch, Hickory Road, Stonebrook Road, and Stone Road sewer service area.  The contract also includes rehabilitating existing manholes and sewer lines in the Oakhurst Drive and Kimberly Road areas.  The Hickory Hollow Sewer Replacement Project is a mandatory project in CSB’s Combined Sewer Overflow Long Term Control Plan (LTCP).  The project will improve the integrity of the sanitary sewers in your service area. This project does not address storm water issues. Construction is scheduled to commence in late November, 2016 and will continue through June, 2017.

The Project is divided into two separate volumes:

Volume A addresses the replacement of sewers in the Hickory Hollow, Ferry Branch, Hickory Road, Stonebrook Road, and Stone Road sewer service area and contains approximately 770 linear feet of 18 inch diameter gravity sewer replacement pipe; 5,450 linear feet of 12 inch diameter gravity sewer replacement pipe; 140 linear feet of 10 inch diameter gravity sewer replacement pipe; approximately 47 manholes; and lining approximately 800 linear feet of existing 12 inch diameter gravity sewer pipe with a cured-in-place sewer pipe liner.  Approximately 14 houses will be disconnected from the old sewer and reconnected to the new sewer.

Volume B addresses the rehabilitation of manholes and sewers in the Oakhurst Drive and Kimberly Road areas of the system.  This work includes excavating and replacing existing 6 manholes with new pre-cast concrete manholes; cleaning and installing a spray-in polyurethane foam lining in 39 existing manholes; and lining approximately 1,325 linear feet of 12 inch diameter gravity sewer pipe.

As with all heavy construction work, there will be public inconveniences (including, among others: traffic controls, reduced travel speeds, delays, detours, mud, dust, stock piled dirt and supplies), but the project team will endeavor to minimize them.  Your patience through inconveniences and awareness of the traffic controls and work zones will be greatly appreciated.
